Denis Moonshine – Hawaiian Name: Kenike Oklahoma
Denis lost an N at birth and is still searching for it. At the age of 10 he started playing drums but he never finished. Like most drummers he eventually switched to guitar but now his fingers are firmly planted on the ukulele. Although Denis is left-handed, he plays right-handed instruments upside-down even when he’s right-side-up and playing behind his head. He is a devoted walker trekking nearly two miles a year! His personal quest is to someday walk the Equator. (The Equator!) He’s not sensitive about losing his hair but don’t dare bring it up. He is an avid hunter but only during Asparagus Season. His favorite Monkee is Mickey.
Ron Moonshine… Hawaiian Name: Lonaka Okolehao
Ron, a former Mouseketeer, is the most generous and kind-hearted of the Moonshine brothers. He is often mistaken for a Catholic Priest; and on numerous occasions people have stopped him on the street just to confess their sins and hand him money, or ask for bread and wine. For that reason he no longer wears black shirts in public but still accepts monetary donations. He can hold a note longer than anybody in the band – even when he’s underwater! A very talented musician, he can play any instrument that is gifted to him. He is especially proud of his bongos and takes them everywhere he goes. His hobbies include running for office and jogging to the mailbox.
Ed Moonshine… Hawaiian name: Ekewaka Okolehao
Ed, one of the original dancers on American Bandstand, is an expert at the unusual sport of Curling and is very adept with a broom. Unfortunately, a serious Fibula injury kept him out of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Chernobyl. He once hitchhiked from Chicago to Key West just to get a bowl of his favorite Conch soup. A gifted vocalist, Ed is blessed with perfect pitch but doesn’t play baseball anymore. He can speak 12 languages but only in English. When asked about his significance in the Moonshiners he said, “Without me, there’s only 3 guys in the band.” He is unparalleled at parallel parking and his favorite color is Podu.
Stan Moonshine… Hawaiian name: Kanale Okolehao
Stan was born under a coffee tree in Kailua Kona Hawaii. As a child, he was exceptionally fair-skinned and often mistaken for an albino. In 2019 he won Hawaii Electric Company's "Brightest legs on the Big Island" contest. At the age of 12 he earned a degree in “Extreme Enthusiasm” from Kramden University and is now a licensed Enthusiast. A recovering fitness guru, he ran the Chicago Marathon in 2008 but realized it’s easier to cover 26.2 miles in an air conditioned car. On Halloween night his house is the most popular in the neighborhood as he hands out ukuleles to the happy children, plus wine and earplugs to their parents.
